Stock Controller

Our client, based in South Cambridge, is looking for a Stock Controller to join their growing team.
Job Description
The Stock Controller will report to the Purchasing Manager and will manage our client’s inventory and purchase stock. The Stock Controller will increase profitability and effectiveness for the business by maintaining optimal stock levels of quality products at all times.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Forecast supply and demand to prevent overstocking and running out-of-stock
- Enter purchase details (vendors information, invoices and pricing) into internal databases
- Place orders to replenish stock as needed
- Track shipments and address any delays
- Carry out goods-in inspection and quality control
- Evaluate suppliers’ offers and negotiate profitable deals
- Coordinate regular inventory audits
- Keep updated inventory records (including daily shipments)
- Ensure purchases do not exceed budget
To be successful in this role, you should be familiar with supply chain procedures and have good communication skills to interact with vendors, clients and internal teams. Candidates will need to have the following skills and experience:
- Proven work experience as a Stock Controller, Inventory Manager or similar role
- Good understanding of supply chain procedures
- Working knowledge of inventory management software (e.g. Sage)
- Previous active participation in inventory audits
- Excellent organisational skills
- Good communication and negotiation abilities
